Vivace Specialist
SmarterSkin Dermatology is the first office in New York City to offer Vivace. Vivace is the newest generation of microneedling with radiofrequency providing noticeable results with minimal pain and downtime. Similar to more traditional microneedling devices, Vivace uses fine needles to create micro-injury in the skin stimulating collagen synthesis. In addition, the treatment delivers radiofrequency energy which works synergistically with the microneedling to boost collagen production and tightens the skin.

Vivace Q & A

by Sejal Shah, MD, FAAD

What can Vivace be used to treat?

Vivace can be used to improve a number of skin issues, such as fine lines and wrinkles, scars, acne scars, stretch marks, pore size, skin laxity (loose skin), and overall texture and tone.

What does a Vivace treatment feel like?

Before the treatment, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the areas being treated for 15-30 minutes prior to the treatment. Once the skin is numb the treatment is very comfortable. Vivace is designed to eliminate much of the discomfort of traditional microneedling. You may feel light pressure and occasional areas may be a little sensitive but most people find the treatment virtually pain-free.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required varies based on the skin concern and it's severity. In general, most individuals need 3-4 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

How long will it take to see results?

You may see some immediate results but it can take up to 3 months to see final results.

What the downtime and recovery?

There is minimal if any downtime with the Vivace. There will some redness after the treatment, which usually lasts a few hours. The microneedling part of VIvace creates micro-channels in the skin which provides an opportunity to infuse the skin with PRP, serums or other cosmeceuticals. These channels will remain open for 4-6 hours, so during this time, you will be asked to refrain from applying any additional skin care products. After 6 hours, you can go back to your regular skincare routine.

Is it safe for all skin types?

Yes, Vivace is safe for all skin types.
